Message about our President

A competitive wrestler in the early 1980's Satnam Johal developed a passion for one of the oldest sports known to man. As a dedicated supporter of wrestling for over 25 years, his love of wrestling led him to establish the Hargobind Wrestling Club.

Satnam takes joy in being able to provide opportunities to aspiring athletes and remains dedicated to assisting our youth in developing strong values and personal character. He believes deeply that wrestling fosters the ideals of good sportsmanship, discipline, courage and respect. Over the past decade he has mentored the likes of Olympic champion Daniel Igali, National champions Randeep Sodhi and Nazir Lal, along with many other young wrestlers.

With a great coaching staff in place, at the Hargobind Wrestling Club, Johal has turned his attention to making a difference in the entire sports community. Satnam believes that we need to focus on sport and physical activity as means of keeping our youth away from drug and gang related issues. He has become a strong advocate for improved government and community investment for physical activity programs.

With his recent appointment to the provincial "Actnow Leadership Council", Satnam feels honored to be in a position to spread his message on healthy living. In addition he is also a member of the Mayor's Task Force on the 2010 Olympics in the City of Surrey. Professionally, he is the CEO of his own company Nu Tek Doors.

All of the volunteer activities require a great deal of time. However Johal is quick to point out that the support of his loving wife and four great children permits him to focus on the volunteer work for our community.
